On 09/10/2026, Sai Dong Urban Primary School organised STEM – Digital Citizenship – Reading Day 2026, combined with the STEM Product Competition under the theme “From Small Ideas – Creating Smart Solutions”. In response to Lifelong Learning Week 2026, the event contributed to promoting digital transformation in education, stimulating a passion for science and technology, and creating a modern, creative, and experience-rich learning environment for students.

The event took place enthusiastically, with a variety of hands-on and experiential activities in different areas. In the Innovation area, students used recycled materials to create models, spreading awareness of environmental protection and building a green school. At STEM Challenge, they took on challenges involving ball mazes, Rubik’s Cubes, robots, and Wireloop, developing logical thinking, coordination, and perseverance. The International Integration – STEM Around the World area opened up a journey of discovery into scientists, inventions, and technological achievements around the world through quizzes, matching tasks, and STEM vocabulary challenges in English. Meanwhile, Little Digital Citizens helped students practise protecting personal information, keeping passwords secure, identifying unreliable information, and behaving respectfully online. The Library area – “Every Book, an Idea” – continued to nurture a love of reading, helping students recognise that knowledge can become the starting point for useful inventions.

A highlight of the event was the 2026 STEM Product Competition, which received 75 entries, of which 21 outstanding products were selected for the final round. Students in Grades 1 and 2 worked on the theme “Smart Recycling – Green School”, creating models and useful items from used materials. Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 took on the theme “Programming to Create – Smart School, Digital Citizens”, applying computational thinking and technological knowledge to develop interactive products that support learning and address practical problems.

In the final round, the competing teams confidently introduced their ideas, presented their implementation processes, demonstrated their products, and answered questions from the Judging Panel. Through these activities, they demonstrated their knowledge, collaboration, communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills. Students who won prizes in the 2026 STEM Competition were honoured in recognition of their efforts and creativity. More importantly, the journey of identifying problems, proposing solutions, testing, recognising limitations, and continuously adjusting and improving their products was particularly valuable. Each experience helped students gain a deeper understanding of the spirit of STEM: learning through practice, creating from real-life experiences, and refining solutions.

The success of the event was made possible by the attention and direction of the School Leadership Board, the dedicated preparation of the teaching staff and coordinating departments, the support of parents, and the students’ proactive participation. With a student-centred approach, the school will continue to nurture new experiences, lessons, and ideas through lessons and activities in STEM, Informatics, Digital Citizenship, and the library.
75 products – 21 products selected for the final round – hundreds of opportunities for exploration and creativity. The event has come to a close, but a passion for technology, an active learning spirit, and the aspiration to create positive value will continue to spread among the students of Sai Dong Urban Primary School.
