EXPLORING AN EXCITING ENGLISH-INTEGRATED SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES LESSON IN CLASS 2A5

Class 2A5 explored ways to keep their homes clean through an engaging Science and Social Studies lesson integrating English under the CLIL approach. With games, AI technology, chants, and practical activities, students learned household vocabulary, practised English sentences, developed life skills, and strengthened their independence and responsibility.

With the topic “Keeping Our Home Clean,” the Science and Social Studies lesson in Class 2A5 at Sai Dong Urban Primary School, guided by Ms. Thuy Nga, offered students an engaging and meaningful learning experience through English integration based on the CLIL approach (Content and Language Integrated Learning).

Class 2A5 students enthusiastically learn English through the topic “Keeping Our Home Clean”.

The lesson began with the appearance of Robot Zippy, whose fun riddles sparked students’ curiosity and enthusiasm. Through picture observation, group discussions, and the exciting game “Little Cleaning Geniuses,” students explored different ways to keep their homes clean, understood the benefits of maintaining a clean living environment, and developed essential skills for doing household chores safely.

A highlight of the lesson was the natural and creative integration of English. With the support of visual aids, AI technology, and body language, students enthusiastically learned vocabulary such as sweep, wash, and clean and practiced familiar sentence patterns, including “I sweep the floor,” “I wash the cups,” and “I clean the table.”

In particular, the lively chant activity, combined with clapping and illustrative actions, created an energetic classroom atmosphere. It helped students remember new vocabulary more easily while building their confidence in using English in everyday situations.

Beyond acquiring knowledge, students also developed a sense of independence, responsibility, and willingness to share household chores with their family members.
